Located with the assistance of Maxine Smith, Volunteer, of the Richland County Genealogical Society, Mansfield, Ohio. The Cemetery is no longer extant but the records for the cemetery are preserved at the Richland County Genealogical Society, Mansfield, Ohio. The site of the cemetery was at the north side of TH# 380, Hildebrant Road, where it intersects with the eastside of CH#108 Bunkerhill South Road, Worthington Township, Richland County. The notes from the Society indicates that George Topper died 6 August 1858, at the age of 68 years 6 months 18 days. I (and others) had long indicated that George's date of birth was about 1790. Now it appears completely confirmed. The information from Richland county arrived the day after Christmas, 2002, and brings to rest a more than 20-year search. I have located my gggGrandfather. We had long known that William Henry Topper, born in Pa. had been located in the 1850 Census in Ashland County in, Mohican Township, with wife Tracy and infant son, both of whom were born is OH, before moving on to Indiana, DeKalb County, near the town of Butler and another son of George Topper, Simon, who in the 1850 Census was 30, born in Maryland and "C. Topper, 34, f., his wife, born in Pa. S.P. 3, b. OH. Richland is an adjoining county. My mistake, I suppose, was initially just concentrating on Ashland County I have since learned that part of Richland County was at one time part of Ashland County. George's son, Simon, and Simon's wife, Christina died in Ashland County, Ohio. Curiously enough, I had been aumpletely unable to locare George Topper is any [PA or OH] census for the year 1850.
