John Topper, son of Andrew and Anna Maria Riffle. This is the oldest of the Topper gravestones in this cemetery and is located directly behind the Sacristy.

Marguerite Topper, daughter of James Lewis Topper and Margaret Evelyn Florence. Patricia Ann Topper, daughter of Curtis David and Anna Martha Myers. These two infants are buried in the same lot 30 years apart and only recently acquired a gravestone.

Marguerite Topper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lute Topper of Freedom Township, died on last Thursday from whooping cough and bronchial pneumonia, aged 1 year and 8 months. Funeral at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Emmitsburg with interment in the cemetery adjoining.

Burial services for Patricia Ann Topper, 16–month daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Topper, of Emmitsburg, were held Monday afternoon in St. Joseph’s Catholic church cemetery by the Rev. William J. Groeninger. The child died Sunday at Sydenham hospital, Baltimore, for meningitis. Besides its [sic] parents, a younger brother, Richard, and its [sic] grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lewis Topper and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Myers survive.

Topper Infant Dies On Monday Morning
Christopher Eugene Topper, aged two months and 14 days, son of Richard C. and Hazel (Glacken) Topper, Emmitsburg R. D., died at his home Monday morning at 9:15 o’clock from congestive heart failure.
Surviving are the parents, these brothers and sisters: Barbara, Patricia, Wayne, Marianna, a twin sister; these grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.. Curtis Topper, Emmitsburg R. D., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Glacken, Emmitsburg R. D.
Graveside services Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery at Emmitsburg with the Rev. Fr. James Twomey, pastor, officiating, The Wilson Funeral Home of Emmitsburg is in charge.

Emmitsburg Resident Was Born In Liberty Township, Adams County
John Topper, 83, died at his home in Emmitsburg Monday morning following an illness of several years. He was the son of the late Gregory and Jane Topper, and was born in Liberty township, Adams county. Surviving are four daughters Helen Topper, St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg; Miss May Topper, Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. James Adelsberger, Collingswood, New Jersey; and Miss Jane Topper, at home; one son Raphael Topper, Philadelphia. One sister, Mrs. Amanda Breighner, Hanover Street, Gettysburg, and two brother Samuel L. Topper, Aspers R. 1 and David Topper, York also survive.

John A. Topper Obsequies Held
Funeral Service for John A. Topper, 83, a native of Adams county, who died at his home in Emmitsburg Monday morning from complications, were held this morning from St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Emmitsburg. A requiem high mass was celebrated by the Rev. Charles G. Sauter. Pallbearers were George V. Lingg, Harry Gelwicks, Bernard Peters, Joseph Elder, Charles Keilholtz and George A. Ohler.

Jacob John Topper
Jacob John Topper, 54, Route 2, died at Saint Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, last Sunday afternoon at 12:15 o’clock. He had been in ill health for the past three years. The deceased was a life–long of Emmitsburg, and the son of the late John D. and Annie Zurgable Topper. His wife, Mrs. Helen Myers Topper, predeceased him last November 30. Mr. Topper was employed at St. Joseph’s College and was a devout member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church, in Emmitsburg. Surviving are 12 children: Rebecca, David, Paul, Theodore, Geraldine, Edward, John, Lucille, all at home; Mrs. Josephine Kreitz, Emmitsburg; Mrs. Annie Little, Thurmont; Mrs. Elizabeth Kaas, Emmitsburg, and Clyde Topper, also of Emmitsburg. In addition are 11 grandchildren, one brother and three sisters: Lewis Topper, Mrs. Edward Lingg, Mrs. Herbert Miller and Mrs. George Cool, all of Emmitsburg. Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, meeting at the Allison Funeral Home here at 8:30 a.m., followed by a requiem Mass at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. John D. Sullivan, pastor, officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Bernard, Donald and Patrick Muller, Albert and Allen Cool and George Myers.

Mrs. Helen Rebecca Topper, 47, wife of Jacob Topper of Emmitsburg R2 died at Annie M. Warner Hospital at 5 o’clock this morning. She had been in ill health for several years. A life long resident of Emmitsburg. Mrs. Topper was the daughter of Charles Myers of Emmitsburg and the late Stella Aumen Myers. The following children survive: Rebecca Topper, at home, Mrs. Josephine Krietz, Emmitsburg R.2, Mrs. Anna Little, Thurmont, R.2; Mrs. Elizabeth Kaas , Emmitsburg R.2; Cpl.
